Solar energy is converted to the chemical energy by means of photosynthesis. This chemical energy is stored by green plant so at the end, organic materials is created. These organic materials are biomass. The energy that obtained from these materials are named as biomass energy. Trees, wheat, special grown plants like corn, mosses, grasses, algae, organic wastes, discarded fruit and vegetable scraps, manure and industrial waste, animal waste are the examples of biomass source. Unlike fossil fuels, biomass does not include carcinogen material and sulphur. In addition to that biomass does not cause to acid rain so it does not harmful for the environment.
" 64% of biomass is obtained from wood and wood waste, little residual from forest maintenance, sawdust and chips, disused wood
24%of biomass from municipal solid waste
5% of biomass from agricultural waste, hard fruit shells
5% of biomass from landfill gasses ." (General Directorate of Forestry)
