Fire Insulation

Does fire insulation necessary for buildings which have fire escape-stairs?

When fire occurs, we have to access the fire-escape stairs in a safe way, without being affected by excessive heat and smoke. For this reason the escape ways have to be well insulated.

Can we prevent fire sufficiently by using water fire-extinguishing systems?

We can classify the precautions against fire into 2 main titles such as passive and active.Passive precautions are the ones which have to be considered during designing architectural project. Passive precautions make the building resistant to fire and smoke spread and reduces the loss of life and property caused by the fire.

Active precautions are the systems such as fire detection andfire-extinguishing systems which cut in with a sign of fire.

All fire extinguishing systems cut in after the fire begins and takes important responsibilities of fire fighting. On the other hand as described above, in order to empty the building in a safe way, escape ways have to be well insulated. In order to prevent easy fire spread, well insulated construction materials have to be used and the precautions delaying the destruction due to the thermal affects, caused by fire, have to be taken. Passive fire protection precautions are the defensive and the active precautions are the offensive methods against fire. That’s why the structural insulation methods have to be taken into consideration together with the fire detection and fire extinguishing systems which cut in as soon as the fire occurs.

How much can the spread of fire be delayed?

30-180 minutes, which is the duration of resistance to fire in regulations, can be reached by fire insulation applications. By this way probable spread of the harmful effect of fire is delayed and the necessary time for taking people away from the building is provided. Beside, to fight with fire is got easier and reduction in the loss of life and property is provided.

Do we need to take precautions against fire in electricity, ventilation and water plants?

The necessary insulation precautions have to be taken in ventilation ducts so as to prevent spreading of the fire throughout the ventilation system in the building. For this reason, the fire resistance of ducts has to be increased by covering them with insulation materials and on the surface of ducts, where the rooms are separated, fire dampers have to be used. The precautions about fire protection have to be taken all over the structure, including the installations. Not only the installations passing throughout the fire resistant walls and floors but also the transitions regions have to be covered with special mastic, mortar and cushion.

Can I apply fire insulation by myself or by help of known old hands?

Your building has to be analyzed by experts and the fire insulation application has to be implemented by experienced firms.

Due to your request our firm would create special solutions for you with right insulation projects.
